The first steering committee meeting on the competition “Clean Region”

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Solomon Pavliashvili led the first steering committee meeting for selecting a winner of the competition “Clean Region 2020”, which is implemented in frames of the project "Keep Georgia Tidy".

The respective competition takes place for the fifth consecutive time and aims at recognizing the following nominations: “The cleanest region”, “The cleanest municipality”, “The cleanest city/town”, “The cleanest street”, “The cleanest yard of an enterprise”, “Picturesque garden” and “Picturesque balcony”. 

The project “Keep Georgia Tidy” aims at decreasing greenhouse gas emissions and pollution of an environment by 2023, as well as promoting sustainable environmental education and fostering circular economy. The project aims at raising public awareness and social responsibility, engagement of business sector in enhancing waste management sector; these efforts shall translate into safeguarding the core human right – live in a healthy and clean environment” – Deputy Minister Pavliashvili stated.

The Swedish-Government supported efforts are implemented by the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia, “Keep Georgia Tidy”, Orchis Union of Nature Researchers of Georgia, MEPA and the Solid Waste Management Company of Georgia.
