European Union will deploy new program on environmental protection in Georgia

Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Ms Nino Tandilashvili met with the Attaché of the EU Delegation to Georgia, Mr Alexandre Daras to discuss the details of the new large-scale program of the European Union. The program will be implemented in 2022-2027 and provide support for environmental protection amounting up to 20 million euros.

The program will entail areas such as water resources management, improving air quality, waste management, reducing industrial emissions, developing ecotourism infrastructure in protected areas, supporting specific efforts in compliance with the legislation on industrial emissions and the National Climate Change Document.

During the ongoing year, upon support of the European Union, Georgia will launch two technical assistance projects amounting to 2.5 million euros.

The meeting enjoyed presence of the heads of various bodies of the Ministry.Â
