The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili met with the heads of peach processing enterprises and exporters. At the meeting, the Minister highlighted export related issues, whereby, he indicated the growth rate of peach export and noted, that 700 tonnes of peaches have been exported from Georgia according to the data provided on June 27th. It should be noted, that the peach export amounted to 30 tons on the same period of 2017.

"Meetings have been held with farmers, entrepreneurs and exporters to ensure peach harvesting, accommodation and selling process in a smooth and coordinated manner. This year export has significantly increased in comparison with the last year. We met with the representatives of companies, which were created under the state funded programs. A sufficient refrigeration capacity that we currently obtain contributes to export. The processing of non-standard peach needs activities to perform in a coordinated manner, accordingly, we have an intensive communication with the representatives of the fruit processing companies. I think we have all possibilities to ensure a smooth flow of peach season ‘’ said Levan Davitashvili.

The company ‘’Kula’’ has received local peaches for several years already – was noted by the director of the company "Kula", Ivane Goglidze.

"We produce juice, fruit porridge and syrup. This year we begin to produce dried peaches as well. Moreover, this summer we plan to process 500 tons of peaches during the season "-said Vano Goglidze.
