Deputy Minster Tandilashvili met with Deputy Head of the Swedish Embassy and Head of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Erik Illes

Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA), Ms Nino Tandilashvili hosted an online meeting with the Deputy Head of the Swedish Embassy and Head of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Mr Erik Illes. Deputy Minister thanked Mr Illes for the fruitful and continuous support for years, which sets promising perspectives for future cooperation. In the course of the meeting, attendees discussed joint projects and upcoming cooperation prospects. 


In the course of the meeting, Mr Tandilashvili provided brief information the State-elaborated policies toward environmental education efforts; she touched upon importance of diversity enhancement, expansion of protected territories and management, climate change softening, effective systems for air quality monitoring and cooperation in this regard. Deputy Minister Tandilashvili stressed out that financial and technical assistance is vital for an effective enhancement of environmental protection, as well as sharing knowledge and expertise. 


Mr Illes briefed how outstanding Georgia has been in deploying environmental education efforts and thus – expressed willingness to continue cooperation in this regard. At an online meeting, representatives of the MEPA’s relevant agencies as well as Development Cooperation Programme Officer at the Embassy of Sweden, Ms Khatuna Zaldastanishvili joined in.Â
