Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili met with the Executive Director of the Caucasian Nature Fund (CNF), Tobias Munchmeyer.

 

At the meeting, the parties evaluated successful cooperation in the environmental direction of Georgia and discussed future partnership opportunities with CNF.

 

Levan Davitashvili introduced CNF executive director about activities and achieved results in relation to protected areas and biodiversity. The minister noted that despite the difficult economic situation caused by the pandemic, the area of protected areas has significantly increased and the tourism infrastructure in the territories has been renewed.

 

As Tobias Munchmeyer said at the meeting, CNF continues to support development of the system of protected areas in Georgia, promoting biodiversity monitoring and strengthening the Ranger Institute.

 

The meeting was attended by Nino Thandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and representatives of relevant agencies involved in the Ministry system.
