Announcing winners of the “Green Region 2020” announced
The Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia through support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Tbilisi Sakrebulo has organized award ceremony of the “Green Region 2020” contest. The year of 2021 has been the fifth consecutive year in organizing the contest into 8 categories; throughout the contest, attendees were enabled to present photo/video to organizers on the following categories.
The winners in the contest “Green Region 2020” are:
“Green Region 2020” – Kakheti region;
“Green City 2020” – City of Kutaisi;
“Green Municipality 2020” – Zugdidi municipality;
“Green Village 2020” – Village of Etseri (Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti);
“Pretty Balcony 2020” – Rusudan Khargelia (city of Zugdidi);
“Clean/Pretty Yard 2020” – S. Zakariadze street (city of Tbilisi) and Gamsakhurdia Avenue (city of Zugdidi);
“Pretty Yard 2020” – Luiza Pantsulaia (Khoni municipality).
The board of the contest has awarded diplomas:
• Lagodekhi and Akhaltsikhe municipalities – for contributions toward waste management systems’ enhancement;
• Clean/pretty yard of the villages of Khurcha and Velistsikhe; diploma has been awarded to Eter Pataraia (city of Tbilisi, Tskneti);
• Nomination green/pretty yard; diploma awarded to the Gogebashvili street (city of Gori).
The contest was organized within the campaign “Keep Georgia Tidy” and is implemented through support of the MEPA together with local and Swedish stakeholders, the Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis”; and Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth-Georgia, in cooperation with LEPL Environmental information and Education Centre, Waste Management Company and the Government of Sweden.
