The State-supported factory will process 12 varieties of frozen fruit

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Levan Davitashvili joined Mr Ilia Tamarashvili, Director of Rural Development Agency (RDA) upon paying a visit to the State-supported factory, which processes fruit. 

“We profess an interest into enhancing an entire value chain, thus, the Ministry’s policy has been deployed toward primary production support, as well as development of storage and processing infrastructure. Fruit industry has already harvested positive changes and at this stage – more than 11, 000 hectares or intensive and modern gardens have been cultivated nationwide, which will ensure maximum value, undisrupted storage of goods, replacement of import and boosting export potential. It is of utmost importance to establish a storage and freezer factory, which complies with modern technologies. The State offers grant, as well as credit resources’ assistance programs to develop the respective sector. Throughout an entire year, the respective State-supported factory has been processing berries upon deploying shocked method” – Minister Davitashvili stated. 

The LTD “Mambo Frost” is a factory supported by the Rural Development Agency (RDA), which supplies the local market with processed fruit upon deploying shock method. Meanwhile, the production is exported to Azerbaijan. 

The Factory was established in 2020 upon assistance of the Rural Development Agency (RDA), through a total amount of 4 million GEL, including 1, 500, 000 GEL of agro-credit. The LTD “Mambo Frost” employs around 20 persons and processes 12 varieties of frozen fruit, including berries; it has a capacity to process 2,5 tonnes of fruit in 24 hours. The factory only processes local goods. 

50 freezer and storage establishments are supported by the grant programs of the Rural Development Agency (RDA) with a total funding exceeding 23 million GEL. 

A total amount exceeding 165 million GEL has been issued in frames of the preferential agro-credit, with regard to freezer and storage entities. The Agency has awarded 1, 645 loans, with a co-funding exceeding 25, 700, 000 GEL.
