High-tech farm opens up in Dmanisi as a joint investment of France and Georgia

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Levan Davitashvili joined Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of France, H.E Diego Colas and Mr Shota Rekhviashvili, State Representative-Governor in Kvemo Kartli at a launching event o the LTD „Dmanisi Livestock “, which is a joint investment of France and Georgia. 

„We have been preparing for the respective project throughout the last few years. The Ministry has joined efforts with the investors from the very first day, together with Ministries of Agriculture and Finance of France. Upon our request, the Ministry of Finance of France has supported livestock production and a detailed market research. After the respective research, high ranking professionals will join planning process and we have the first lot for a new breed. This is a French, salers breed, which has entered Georgia and is well-acquainted with cold climate, hence, Dmanisi is an ideal location.

The newly launched farm in Dmanisi has deployed the most innovative technological advancements, achievements and French experience. The respective initiative will boost meat production development in Georgia, at an accelerated pace. I believe that the industry will manage to succcessfully supply high-quality meat to both, local and non-local markets“ – Minister Davitashvili stated. 

„I believe that Georgian Agricuture has a huge potential. We would like to attract French investors and ensure that their investments complement enhancement of Georgia’s agriculture“ - Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic of France, H.E Diego Colas stated.  

LTD „Dmanisi Livestock“ is a joint effort of Georgian and French investments and is equipped with modern appliances. A total investment deployed to the project is 10 million GEL, while 6 out of it is a preferential agro-credit. The farm entails cattle for breeding and has 130 salers, which have been transported from France. The farm also produces food for the sake of a complete cycle. 

Opening of the farm took place in Dmanisi, at the village of Karabulakhi and enjoyed presence of Mr Ilia Tamarashvili, Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, Georgian investor, Mr Archil Giorgadze and Mr JacquesFleur, French investor, which has 25-years of extensive experience in Georgia’s agro-industrial sphere.
