Upon an initiative of Mr Bidzina Ivanishvili, since 2012, agriculture has been announced as one of the core priorities and the State support has harvested the results, which we embrace now.

Amidst the pandemic, even the year of 2020 has embraced improvements of the core economic parameters, which has been translated into two figures increase in terms of production, added value, as well as productivity per employed individual; these details have been translated from the Ministry’s consistent actions, which will proceed to 2021 as well.

Our objective is to shape a long-term vision; I would like to expand my appreciation toward the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr Irakli Gharibashvili for support. Prime Minister’s assistance has resulted into allocation of more resources for the next 9 – 10 years, thus boosting increase path, as well as setting ambitious plans, which become reality. Engagement of the private sector is crucial, as well as assistance of the donor organizations; I would like to thank our stakeholders for the contributions, as they will be part of the implementation process of the future plans. Nevertheless, it is vital to succeed with a consistent policy of the state.

We have set several objectives and which shall boost Georgia’s self-sufficiency in terms of food safety. We aim at incorporating impact of Georgia’s food safety, greater utilization of the country’s export potential, inclusiveness of the process for ensuring that the economic goods can be featured in numbers and can be applied to each and every citizen, especially the rural population; we aim at bringing economic goods to each and every citizen.

Upon the delegation of the Prime Minister, we have set detailed plans and have readiness to brief our population with target indicators, which can be further scrutinized. We have specific indications and action plans, which are designated based on specific areas or regions by the Ministry; these documents have been drafted upon close coordination between representatives of academia, experts, field professionals and working formats, parliament and wider public; inclusive format has been provided for both, environmental protection, as well as agricultural areas” – Minister Levan Davitashvili stated.
