Minister Davitashvili: “Production of Georgia shall be competitive and presented to the market in accordance with the contemporary standards and requirements”

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Levan Davitashvili delivered a presentation on “Environmental Protection and Rural Development 2030” and discussed development objectives at a created detail. 

“We require processing amenities, storage and packaging infrastructure, as well as entailing investments for storing the primary production, which will ensure that Georgian production is competitive and presented to the market in accordance with the contemporary standards and requirements” – Minister Davitashvili stated. Efforts for enhancing agrarian matters have been translated into contemporary farming and enterprises; moreover, preferential financial resources have been assigned to entrepreneurs and farmers, which will transform the sphere into a more attractive area for investment. 

As set forth in the “Environmental Protection and Agrarian Development 2030”, long-term vision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture aims at boosting support toward processing and storage enterprises; within the nearest 10 years, a total amount of 1,7 billion GEL will be invested into the sphere; over 700 million GEL is a funding from the State. The respective efforts will ensure boosting of local production. 

Nowadays, the State has accommodated 1,3 billion GEL of credit portfolio for boosting primary production, processing and storage-realization enterprises. The respective data is 22 times more than the credit portfolio in 2012 (57 million GEL). The Rural Development Agency-deployed programs have established/reequipped more than 1000 enterprises.
