Minister Davitashvili: “We require an effective State policy and meaningful presence of the society for ensuring effective waste management”

“We require an effective State policy and meaningful presence of the society for ensuring effective waste management. An effective policy implies new approach toward waste management, which becomes an integral aspect for economy. As we speak about the economic development, it is vital to cultivate green and circular economy principles; therefore, by 2030, we shall ensure complete separation of waste at the municipalities, as an effective remedy for decreasing waste.

Moreover, it is crucial that the companies have extended producer responsibility (EPR), which boosts importance of private sector engagement, in order to transform their waste into goods. Georgia shall ensure management of core waste though circular path, within 30 years” – Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Levan Davitashvili stated, while presenting the “Environmental Protection and Rural Development 2030”
