Minister Davitashvili met with students of the MA program in Environmental Management and Policy at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA)

“Our meetings with GIPA’s students have become regular. MA program in Environmental Management and Policy is vital for recruiting professionals, who will tackle numerous challenges with environmental matters in Georgia. I would like to express my gratitude to the partners; a high number of graduates are employed at our Ministry. Environmental protection is a priority for Georgia, which has also been set forth within the Association Agreement. Moreover, we have embarked on improvements to the environmental policy, which implies new regulations and challenges; it is crucial that there are new professionals who can join the field, both, in state and private sectors. Companies at private sector have major capacities for employment, which will boost career prospects for the students, who have graduated from GIPA” – Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Levan Davitashvili stated.

Students held the discussion in a Q&A session and inquired about policy matters and future prospects for setting priorities in the respective matter. Minister responded with comprehensive information on climate change, water resources, biodiversity and atmospheric air protection.

MA program in Environmental Management and Policy was created through joint efforts of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (MEPA), Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), MEPA’s Environmental Information and Education Center and the German Agency for International Cooperation or (GIZ).
