Guria is in an active phase of hazelnut harvest

The Guria region has embraced an active harvest phase of hazelnut. The first Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr Giorgi Khanishvili observed acceptance-processing process at the enterprises. 

“Within an incumbent year, hazelnut harvest is of a high quality and our objective aims at attaining such stance. I believe that the harvest scale and quality of an ongoing year will excite exporter companies. I should stress out that export is predominantly deployed to the European Union countries. During the season, Georgia has already exported 4,000 tonnes of hazelnut, which exceeds the previous year in 900 tonnes. During an incumbent year, hazelnut projections aim at 65 – 70 thousand tonnes, which amounts into 150 million USD of export potential” – Deputy Minister Khanishvili stated. 
 
Nowadays, the vast majority of harvest in Guria has been collected and accommodated. The process of accepting-processing hazelnut in the respective enterprises is in an accelerated phase. Deputy Minister Khanishvili and Head of the National Food Agency, Mr Zurab Chekurashvili visited a Hazelnut processing enterprise “Global Export” to observe the process; the respective enterprise has been equipped with modern appliances. The respective enterprise unites a complete cycle, which ensures high quality of the hazelnut. 
 
Currently, the “Global Export” employs 120 persons and intends to expend through utilizing a preferential agro-credit.
