Enterprises will get benefits from preferential agro-credit to purchase materials for wine production - bottles, stoppers, bottle corks and boxes.

In accordance with the decision made at the Government session today, amendments will be implemented to the "Preferential Agro Credit" project to boost sales of Georgian wine into the export markets. Under the amendment, the grape processing companies will be able to take preferential loans to purchase materials for grape processing and wine production, namely: bottles, stoppers, bottle corks, boxes.

The state strategy for Georgian winemaking implies Georgian wine to grow from niche segment to the universally available or mass-market wine category. Georgian wine should be available in major sales channels, such as, on trade, retail, horeca sector and chain stores.  Accordingly, the production, as well as export of quality Georgian wine should be increased. Georgian wine should establish an important place among well-known wine producing or exporting countries.

 

The Government started grant co-financing to increase marketing activities on the one hand, on the other hand, according to the decision made at the government session today, the entrepreneurs will get benefits from preferential agro-credit to purchase wine production materials - bottles, bottle stoppers, corks and boxes.

 

As of 2020, 376 companies were exporting wine to 60 countries across the world. The sales of 100 million bottles are projected for 2021.

The state aims to boost export of wine sector to $ 1 billion by 2030 under 10-year plan, which, in fact, would triple inflow from revenue generating alcoholic products of grape origin.
