Loan amount for purchasing and processing non-standard apples determined from 500,000 GEL to 5,000,000 GEL for each enterprises
In accordance with the decision of the Government of Georgia, changes were made in the "Preferential Agro Credit" project, under which the working capital loans were specified for companies purchasing non-standard apples.
The loan amount for enterprises purchasing and processing non-standard apples was determined from 500,000 GEL to 5,000,000 GEL. The respective companies are registered in the coordination headquarters, which are promoting selling of non-standard apples.
Currently, eight fruit processing enterprises from Shida Kartli, Kakheti, Mtskheta-Mtianeti and Racha-Lechkhumi regions are engaged in the non-standard apple selling promotion program. Concentrates obtained from processing of non-standard apple are mainly sold in the EU market.
It is noteworthy, that the state is implementing a subsidy program to ensure, that post harvest handling and storage related process runs smoothly.
Under the program, when purchasing industrial apples, the state subsidy - 10 tetri per 1 kg of non-standard apples - will be given to fruit processing companies registered at the Coordination Headquarters for selling apple crops, although, 22 tetri will be paid per kg of non-standard apples, when purchasing from individuals employed in the horticulture and fruit growing industry.
As of September 26, more than 3,700 tonnes of industrial apples have already been processed
