Levan Davitashvili delivers remarks at the initiative of Prime Minister of Georgia: We will offer a program by the end of 2021, ‘’the model’’ which will definitely meet the interests of the population

After the government session, the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Levan Davitashvili spoke at length about the new initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Irakli Gharibashvili with regard to a new vision on social policy. The Minister explained preconditions and objectives of the initiative.

" We will offer a program by the end of 2021, a ‘’model’’, that will definitely meet the interests of the population. I would like to shed light, that new initiative announced by the Prime Minister aims to motivate able-bodied citizens and engage them in public activities, which will ultimately improve their social status and living conditions .

The question arises, as to whether this could be an alternative to social assistance program. We declare that, income should increase and new opportunities should emerge for socially vulnerable citizens, whose only source of income is their social status . Of course, able-bodied citizens should become more active, along with their work, they should improve their qualifications. We have about 200-250 thousand these types of people. Different municipalities and regions acquire detailed information about these issues ”said Mr. Levan Davitashvili.

As noted by the Minister, there is a shortage of workers in many jobs. This also applies to the private sector jobs, including agriculture, processing industry, construction sector etc. As part of the initiative, new jobs should be created, as there are too many challenges faced by the municipalities.

"Numerous jobs can be created in the agricultural and environmental fields, that are key areas of our Ministry, regarding protection of forests, protected areas, etc. We often face a shortage of manpower, workers, therefore, we should enable these people to improve  their qualifications and use new job opportunities , that would lead to an increase in their earnings in the future. "- said Mr. Levan Davitashvili.
