Minister meets young interns of Rural Development Agency's regional offices and municipal centers

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Levan Davitashvili together with the USAID ‘’Zrda Activity in Georgia’’ Project Director, Keti Chumburidze met with young interns of Rural Development Agency's regional offices and municipal centers.

 

" Young people expressing their interest in the agricultural sector is of utmost importance. We repeatedly emphasized, that we need to embrace a more competitive agriculture, which will be complemented with modern technology and innovations; Young people are good at new technology and they will deal with it much better, than older ones. Therefore, they will easily explain innovative approaches to farmers and, at the same time, will make other interested young people to get involved in the agricultural activities ”said Mr. Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

 

According to the USAID ‘’Zrda Activity in Georgia’’ Project Director, Keti Chumburidze, the number of projects have been implemented through cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture during the 5 years. The project implemented in the agricultural extension field is crucial, as it will promote the development of the competitive agricultural sector.

 

The regional offices and municipal centers of the Rural Development Agency provide opportunities to interns and help them to acquire practical skills in the agricultural field.

 

The interns were provided with the literature material on agrarian practices and necessary equipment for extension activities.

 

 

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili and the Director of the Rural Development Agency Ilia Tamarashvili attended the meeting.
