Levan Davitashvili: " We are launching a new project, which provides an important incentive for developing entrepreneurship in the regions"

According to the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Government of Georgia has decided to launch a new project to support small and medium sized enterprises and entrepreneurship in the country. The respective project will be implemented in four regions - Imereti, Kakheti, Guria and Racha-Lechkhumi Kvemo Svaneti.

The pilot regions have been selected in cooperation with the EU, which provides substantial funding for the project.

"These are four regions where the program will be implemented. Significant financial assistance will be provided for those economic initiatives, which supports expansion of existing enterprises or creation of new ones.

The program is definitely in line with our regional development vision and strategy. Under the respective program we provide assistance through preferential credit resources, namely, co-financing of loan interest rate from 300 thousand up to one million for two years. The program provides a very important incentive to promote entrepreneurship in the selected regions "- said Minister Davitashvili.

According to the Minister, the respective program does not include a support for primary agricultural production, as far as the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture has been supporting primary production through various projects.

The new project envisages the creation of new companies and provides a financial support for expansion-modernization of existing ones.
