In 2021, exports of agri-food products amounted to USD 1 142 million, which is 124% higher than in 2012

2021 was a record year for Georgian exports. The exports of domestic production hit a historical high, exceeding USD 3 billion (USD 3127 million) for the first time and is exactly 2 times higher than in 2012 (USD 1561 million). In 2021, exports of agri-food products amounted to USD 1 142 million, which is 124% more than in 2012. The total income from the exports of wine, brandy, chacha, tap brandy and brandy spirits amounted up to USD $ 400 million, which is 18% higher compared to 2020.

The value of fresh fruit exports amounted to USD 213 million in 2021, embracing nut products (mostly hazelnuts) (USD 118 million), tangerines (USD 26 million), peaches and nectarines (USD 29 million), apples (USD 8 million), persimmons (USD 6 million), Blueberries (USD 6 million).

In 2021, exports of fresh vegetables totaled USD 28 million, including potatoes (USD 17 million), tomatoes (USD 3 million), herbs (USD 4 million).

Moreover, the top exported Georgian products in 2021 were: mineral and freshwater (USD 142 million), Non-alcoholic carbonated beverages (USD 58 million), cattle (live) (USD 33 million), sheep and goats (live) (USD 26 million).

The consistent state policy resulted in increase in the production and export of competitive Georgian agri-food products. The state programs, entailing provision of financial and technical support are tailored to meet all needs and ensure the ever-increasing dynamics of production and sales.
 
Ultimately, the negative trade balance- trade deficit is declining. In 2021, the trade deficit fell by 72% in the agri-food sector, compared to 2012.
