Project on the Circular Economy Assessment in Georgia to discuss at the meeting


The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili  together with the  Deputy Head of Mission of the Kingdom of Sweden to Georgia Mr. Erik Illes participated in the third plenary session of the project " Circular Economy Assessment in Georgia.

During the meeting, the participants scrutinized a wide range of issues, including, activities taken to evaluate the “circularity” level, and prospects for the development of a circular economy in Georgia.

The data presented at the meeting is based on the analysis of statistical data, which is available in the databases of various agencies of Georgia and consultations held with the Government agencies, municipalities, and business representatives.

The link between the circular economy and climate change and current trends in the respective area have been discussed at the meeting. 

The meeting held within the framework of the project on the ‘’Circular Economy Assessment in Georgia  ", was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and Georgian Society of Nature Explorers "Orchis",
 
The project funded by the Swedish government aims to support Georgia's transition to a circular economy.

Mr. Dariusz Prasek, International Consultant of the Union of Nature Researchers delivered a presentation at the session.

In March 2021, before launching the circularity assessment process, the Government of Georgia established an Interagency Working Group (Inter-Agency Coordination Council of the Government of Georgia), which embraces representatives of various government agencies, and gets key agencies involved in the process at an early stage.
