George Khanishvili: "There is no shortage of food supply in Georgia"

The regular working meeting with the representatives of food import companies and large trade networks was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

"Currently, there are no food shortages in Georgia. Despite the difficult situation in the region, it is crucial to maintain a stable supply of products in the consumer market. Therefore, we will work in full coordination with the private sector - importers, distributors, support them in finding alternative markets and help them in ensuring a smooth import of products and continuous replenishment of food stocks "- said the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. George Khanishvili.

As was pointed out, as a result of climatic conditions, there had been disruptions in the supply chain networks in certain regions in recent days, although, this uncertainty will be fully resolved in the coming days.
Moreover, an additional batch of different essential products (oil, pasta, buckwheat, fats, etc.) will enter the country, when road conditions improve, which were affected by bad weather.

The relevant services of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture aiming to ensure food security are constantly monitoring the uninterrupted supply of food products and replenishment of food throughout the country.
