After the session of the Government of Georgia, Mr. Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture declared: "Considering the current reality, it is important to support the growth of agricultural production to increase the self-sufficiency; Therefore, the decision was made about two important projects today,".

The Minister spoke about the decision made by the Government of Georgia, and noted, that the state is launching two important projects; The change is made in the preferential agro-credit project, according to which, farmers will be able to take a preferential loan for the production of annual crops; The second important decision has been made to support the agricultural cooperatives.

"Over the years, we have been implementing a number of programs aimed at promoting cooperation - in the wine sector, dairy sector, beekeeping field, etc. The new project envisages state co-financing for the establishment of vegetable storage farms with very high, co-financing rate of 80%.

Farmers who produce vegetables can join their efforts to form a cooperative, and if they meet the conditions set out in a specific government decree, they will receive co-financing from the state for the arrangement of a vegetable farm at 80% of the total cost.

"All of the aforementioned issues aim at providing farmers with the opportunity to keep the product in compliance with the modern standards, and supplying the products to the market with the conditions that will benefit them, while maintaining the quality of products," - said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
