Mr. George Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture held a meeting with the peach, early potato producers and exporters. The participants set focus on the current challenges in the harvesting, handling and storage of crop, given the current situation in the region.

George Khanishvili stated, that exporters should work actively to find the alternative markets and they will have the state support

"We held a meeting with the farmers and exporters producing early potatoes and peaches. Their income depends on the sales they generate, and their ability to export. During the meeting we discussed the possible risks that may occur in the current circumstances.
The exporters were given recommendations to work as hard as possible to find other markets. This year we are expecting  a high yield of peaches and early potatoes; Last year’s successful results gave farmers the incentive to work harder and get more crops; Therefore, it is crucial, that the state does everything possible to enable them to sell their products without interruption ”said Mr. George Khanishvili.
As mentioned at the meeting, farmers and exporters are already actively working to find alternative markets to sell their products, therefore, they hold negotiations with the EU countries. The participants thanked the representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture for their long-term cooperation and active support.

"We are ready to export products to the markets we have been exporting on so far; However, we have active communication with the European countries and we have already gained a little experience, particularly, I would like to mention the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture;
Representatives of the Ministry assist us in the procedures, regarding, preparation of documents, or communication with other Ministries to ensure the sale of products. I would like to thank all relevant services of the Ministry for this support, "said exporter Mr. Vakhtang Bezhitashvili.
