Additional working meeting held to discuss food supply related issues

The additional working meeting was held at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture to discuss food supply related issues


The First Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Mr. George Khanishvili conducted a working meeting with the representatives of food importing companies and large trade networks. The current situation in the country, regarding stocks of essential goods and food supplies, as well as finding new import markets have been discussed at the meeting.

"At this stage, there are no shortages of food supplies in the country. Due to bad weather, there were some delays in importing products from the Lars customs point, although this problem was also resolved. We work actively with the importers and distributors to facilitate uninterrupted and timely imports from alternative markets. It is important for us, that the supply of food products, especially, essential goods are continuously replenished and food security is ensured in the country," said Mr. George Khanishvili.

As mentioned at the meeting, the companies are actively looking for alternative markets. The Ministry and the National Food Agency are ready to assist importers in the prescribed import procedures to support the smooth entry of products from new markets. 

The participants decided to continue holding working meetings to discuss concrete proposals and achieved results.
The working meeting was attended by the Head of the National Food Agency Mr. Zurab Chekurashvili and representatives of the relevant services of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.
