51 storage enterprises were established through state support in 2021

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia, speaking in Parliament under  the frame of the  “Minister’s Hour” reported on the support for the agricultural storage and processing sector and summarized the year 2021.

“For farmers and persons interested in agribusiness, financial support from the state is an important incentive to create production infrastructure for storage and processing of products - with the support of the state in 2021 there were created storage enterprises with a capacity of more than 34,000 tons,” -  said Otar Shamugia.

Within the project of co-financing processing and storage enterprises, 51 storage enterprises have been established in 2021 in different regions of Georgia, with a total investment cost of up 70 million to GEL, where the state co-financing amounted to 24 million GEL.

It should be noted, that within the framework of co-financing of processing and storage enterprises project, 12 processing enterprises were supported in 2021, mainly in the field of winemaking and fruit processing (alcohol production), with the investment cost of more than 17 million GEL, where the state co-financing amounted to more than 5 million GEL.

In parallel with receiving a state grant, the beneficiaries also have the opportunity to take advantage of a soft agro-credit.
In 2021, the investment value of established processing and storage  enterprises in total exceeds GEL 87 million .
