Otar Shamugia: " 9 regional offices of the Rural Development Agency and 45 information-consulting centers are operating and providing extension services to farmers across Georgia,"

"One of our main goals is to promote education. The trainings and seminars are being conducted to raise agricultural awareness, strengthen the capacity of farmers,  and improve their skills, "- said the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, while addressing the Members of the Parliament under the frame of the" Minister’s Hour ".

According to the Minister, there are 9 regional offices of the Rural Development Agency across Georgia and 45 information-consultation centers, which offer extension services to farmers.
 
It is worth mentioning, that through active cooperation with the Government of Japan, the Ministry was provided with the equipped with modern laboratory equipment, which will enable the employees of the regional services of the Rural Development Agency to provide extension services to farmers on their agricultural land plots, ” Mr. Otar Shamugia said.

The Minister also spoke about the institutional reform and noted, that, the implementation of the institutional reform will be further continued to improve the planning and implementation of the rural development policy, which in turn will ensure a unified approach to results-oriented management in compliance with the European governance principles for rural development and facilitate the European integration process.

The implementation of the reform will enable farmers and entrepreneurs involved in agribusiness to have access to more support mechanisms and support them to set focus on market diversification, inclusion, and efficiency.
