At the sitting of the Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, recommendations, current challenges, and future plans were discussed within the framework of the monitoring the implementation of the Law of Georgia on ‘’Agricultural Cooperative’’.

Mr. George Khanishvili, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture spoke about the vision of the Ministry, regarding recommendations provided by the Parliamentary Committee within the scope of the cooperative development and law enforcement control.

"All programs intending for the development of agricultural cooperatives are focused on encouraging the creation of cooperatives, enabling farmers and entrepreneurs to see the benefits of the cooperative union. We analyze the existing challenges. The Parliament provided certain recommendations and we are actively working on the respective issues. It is important to involve donor organizations in this area, "said Mr. George Khanishvili.

According to the Chairperson of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Mrs. Nino Tsilosani, the legislation, as well as existing programs and activities carried out through the assistance of the donors have created an essential foundation, and at the same time provide an opportunity to make very interesting findings, which were developed at the committee on the one hand, and on the other hand, both the Ministry and part of the donors are actively working on the existing challenges, which guarantees that the reform of the agricultural cooperatives will be successful at the legislative level as well.
