Otar Shamugia: "We have adopted several important laws over the past few years to get closer to the EU "


"As part of our commitment to getting closer to the EU, we have adopted several important laws in recent years, such as the Forest Code, the Law on Environmental Liability, and the Environmental Assessment Code. These are the laws that are in full compliance with the European standards. Moreover, we have already developed several draft laws on biodiversity and industrial emissions; "Currently, the parliament will actively consider the draft law on water resources management," Otar Shamugia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture spoke on the TV channel Maestro ‘’Maestro Regions’’. 

According to the Minister, the measures and reforms planned by the Ministry are challenges facing the law enforcement;

Therefore, it is necessary to enhance the capacity in all areas, including the National Environmental Agency, the Department of Environmental Supervision, and the National Forest Agency.
The Ministry is actively working to strengthen its capacity, and adopt appropriate mechanisms for the implementation of new legislation, proper monitoring, and control.
