Otar Shamugia: “At this stage, Georgia, like Moldova, is making efforts to get the EU candidate status; making joint efforts to reach a positive outcome in the respective process is crucial for our countries. "

During his working visit to Baku, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Mr. Otar Shamugia met with the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Viorel Gherciu.
 
At the meeting, Mr. Otar Shamugia stressed that Georgia and Moldova are facing common challenges. In this context, deepening cooperation between the two countries in terms of sharing their experiences is crucial.
 
‘’Georgia, like Moldova, is making efforts to get the EU candidate status; through joint efforts to reach a positive outcome in the respective process is crucial for our countries.
Georgia expresses its readiness for closer cooperation in various fields, including trade and economic relations," Mr. Shamugia stated.
 
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Moldova, active cooperation in the winemaking, fruit growing and plant protection fields between the two countries is of the utmost importance.
"By adhering to EU regulations and sharing our experience, we will achieve common success," Mr. Viorel Ghurciu said. 
Mr. Otar Shamugia stressed the importance of food security-related issues and noted that, as a result of the ongoing war in the region, the diversification of grain markets is on the agenda. The Minister noted that it is important to share Moldova's experience in grain production.
The Ministerial meeting was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Mr. George Khanishvili and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Zurab Pataradze.
