Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia meets the heads of the large enterprises operating in the town of Rustavi

During the meeting, the parties discussed the measures taken by the enterprises to ensure
the fulfilment of environmental obligations imposed on them to improve the ecological situation in the town of Rustavi. The respective obligations are established by the Law of Georgia in the field of ambient air protection.

It was mentioned that most of the enterprises are fulfilling their obligations in accordance with the plan.

"The current legislation obliges enterprises to monitor the emission of harmful substances to the air, and equip companies with the appropriate equipment to improve the air quality index. We have discussed already implemented measures during the meeting. According to the information obtained, we can say that we have made some progress, although the works that we have started should be completed; The enterprises must fulfil all obligations imposed by law. We are constantly monitoring the aforementioned process "Mr. Otar Shamugia said.

As stated by the Executive Director of the Georgian Business Association, Mrs. Mariana Morgoshia, the member companies of the association take responsibility for fulfilling their legal obligations.

" At the execution phase, the companies have taken important steps. We hope that all companies will adopt a new system this summer, based on which, the enterprises will comply with the environmental norms," - said Mrs. Mariana Morgoshia.

 Most of the enterprises operating in the town of Rustavi have started fulfilling their obligations. Entrepreneurs work closely with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, together with the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia and the local government have conducted the monitoring of enterprises several times in the town of Rustavi. 

Moreover, four companies were inspected and the fulfilment of environmental obligations established by the Law of Georgia in the field of ambient air protection was scrutinized as part of the monitoring campaign of enterprises.
