The competition "Clean Region 2022" has been announced for the seventh time under the framework of the project ‘’ Keep Georgia Tidy’’

At the initiative of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth - Georgia and with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, within the framework of the project "Keep Georgia Tidy", the competition "Clean Region 2022" has been announced for the seventh time. 

 

"Clean Region" is one of the most important competitions, which we have been holding for the seventh year. More and more people are participating in the contest. Both private and public sectors are engaged in the respective event. I believe the results of 2022 will be very positive, which will help our environment. Moreover, the aforementioned event helps to raise public awareness, reduce natural landfills and, most importantly, improve the waste management system, "said Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture. 

 

As stated by Mrs. Nino Chkhobadze, Chairwoman of the Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth-Georgia, the competition aims to minimise the amount of waste and environmental pollution, which brings us closer to the European standards.
Within the framework of the competition "Clean Region 2022", the cleanest region in the whole country, "Clean Municipality", "Clean City / Town", "Clean Village / Community", "Clean / Beautiful Street", "Clean / Beautiful Yard" , "Clean beautiful enterprise / institution yard", "Beautiful balcony" and "Clean blue stream" will be revealed.
 

The project is being implemented by the NGOs:  "Keep Georgia Tidy" (KGT), the Union of Nature Researchers "Orchis", " Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth - Georgia", the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and its Structural Unit, LEPL Environmental Information and Education Center, also, in cooperation with the Solid Waste Management Company and with the support of the Swedish Government.

 

Those who wish to participate in the competition should send photo/video materials reflecting the listed nominations to the following address: info@greens.ge. 
The special commission created within the competition (Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, representatives of public organizations, journalists) will identify the winner of the ‘’Clean Region 2022’’ based on the submitted material. The award ceremony will be held in the spring of 2023.
