Wheat varieties selection demonstration event held in Marneuli Municipality

The company ‘’Lomtagora’’ LTD organized an open day - the wheat seed selection demonstration event in Marneuli Municipality.
The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. George Khanishvili attended the event.

" State agricultural programs focused on the development of grain production would be meaningless if we don’t take into account the development of seed production, including high yielding varieties. It should be mentioned, that the company ‘’Lomtagora’’ produces quality wheat seeds. 

We already have wheat varieties in Georgia, which deliver 7-8-10 tonnes of wheat crop. We believe, that the steps taken in the respective area will contribute to the growth of our production, not only seed material but the total production of wheat crops in the country. The state plans to implement agricultural programs in the future, which will be focused on the development of wheat and grain crops, "- said Mr. George Khanishvili.

The top  wheat varieties selected across the world, including Georgian local and endemic-aboriginal  varieties, were presented at the event

The event was attended by the representatives of the Agrarian Issues Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, sectoral associations and local farmers.
