Otar Shamugia: "Projects we have been implementing for agricultural development over the years provide an important incentive for farmers''

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia held a meeting with the state program beneficiary farmers in the Kvemo Kartli region.

The Minister together with the State Representative of the Kvemo Kartli region, Mr. Giorgi Dokhturishvili visited the newly planted garden in the village of Shaumiani, Marneuli Municipality. In 2018, the company "Agronatural" received co-financing of GEL 57,000 for planting the sweet cherry garden on 4 hectares and apple orchard on one hectare of agricultural land area and also for the arrangement of wells within the state program "Plant the Future". The company also reaps the benefits of  the preferential agro-credit project. 11% of the loan is covered by the Rural Development Agency. 8 people are employed in the garden.

"The projects we have been implementing for agricultural development over the years provide an important incentive for farmers, thus enabling them to produce quality agricultural products and adopt new technologies. Today, we held a meeting with the farmers, who benefited from the state projects and had an incentive to make such a large-scale investment," Mr.  Shamugia said.
The Minister also paid a visit to the village of Kumisi in Gardabani Municipality, where he inspected a farm built under the state support program. 

In 2016, a livestock farm was launched with state financial support in the village of Kumisi, Gardabani Municipality. The company "Niba 2008" has invested GEL 2 million in arranging a cattle farm. The company has been enjoying benefits of  preferential agro-credit since 2016, 11% of the loan is covered by the Rural Development Agency.

 

The farm produces 2 tonnes of milk per day and employs 6 people. Moreover, the aforementioned cattle farm supplies raw materials to a local milk processing enterprise.
As stated by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, regular meetings are held with the farmers to get acquainted with their needs; The state projects are being  developed by taking into account the farmers needs.
