George Khanishvili: "Sunny weather will come out in the next few days and farmers should start pest treatment "

"In 2021, Georgia exported hazelnuts worth 120 million. We can not slow down this pace. I would like to address farmers and ask them to carry out additional two or more pest treatment activities to save the hazelnut crop. Farmers will have to start pest treatment in the coming days, ”said Mr. George Khanishvili, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture.

According to the Deputy Minister, this year, heavy rainfall has led to numerous hazards in eastern and western Georgia. Farmers should start treating their hazelnut orchards as soon as possible. The state continues and will continue to treat arrays against the Asian Stink Bug; However, at the same time, treatment should be provided to prevent root rot, ash anthracnose and other diseases.

"Therefore  I address to hazelnut growers, who own about 60,000 hectares of large and small hazelnut plantations, and I would like to ask them to treat their orchards immediately. The state allocated vouchers worth GEL 30 for all farmers to take chemical control of their crops ”said Mr. Khanishvili.
