Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture held a meeting with the entrepreneurs

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture hosted the workshop, where the fulfilment of the obligation to continuously determine the actual amount of emissions from stationary sources of pollution,  as well as the requirements for registration in the electronic system, have been discussed with the representatives of the relevant enterprises.

Deputy Ministers Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili and Mr. Kakha Kakabadze, as well as Deputy Head of Environmental Supervision Department Mrs. Nelly Korkotadze, Majoriatarian PM at the town of Rustavi Mr. Irakli Shatakishvili, Mayor of Rustavi Mrs. Nino Latsabidze and Director of Environmental Information and Education Center Mrs. Tamar Aladashvili attended the meeting, which was organized by the Environmental Information and Education Center.

"During the meeting with the representatives of the companies, we once again explained and discussed how obligations should be fulfilled, and how each of the enterprises is progressing in the aforementioned direction, which is crucial for the Ministry, especially to observe how enterprises are fulfilling the requirements of the Law on “Ambient Air Protection”.

Each enterprise was given a detailed plan schedule for fulfilling new obligations. If obligations are not fulfilled within the specified deadline, the Ministry will take legal measures '', said the Deputy Minister, Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili.

According to the Mayor of Rustavi, Mrs. Nino Latsabidze, the control of hazardous substances is particularly important for the town of Rustavi, which still faces issues related to quality improvement.

Under the legislative changes carried out at the initiative of the Ministry, the enterprise taking activities subject to the environmental decision is obliged to register in the electronic system and conduct continuous self-monitoring. Moreover,  companies are threatened with a fine in cases of failure to meet their obligations.
It should be mentioned, that the companies have already started solving problems that have existed for a dozen years, namely, installing self-monitoring systems and registering in the electronic system according to the plan-schedule.

" We met the representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, regarding the fulfilment of our obligations. It should be noted, that we have already installed measuring devices in all three enterprises in the towns of Poti, Rustavi and Kaspi. Currently, calibration is underway to determine accurate data and transfer the information to the Ministry," said Mr. Giorgi Chaladze, Environmental Protection Manager of "Heidelberg Cement Georgia" LLC.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture continues monitoring of the enterprises to improve the air quality on the one hand and, on the other hand, to support the implementation of policy and meet the latest environmental standards.
