Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Nino Thandilashvili participated in the working meeting of the Draft Law on Water Resources Management.

The representatives of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the private sector attended the meeting.


The Deputy Minister thanked the representatives of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for providing support in the water resources management reforming process within the economic governance program, she also drew attention to the importance of the draft law.
It should be mentioned, that the respective draft law regulates the protection and sustainable use of water resources.

 

The conversation touched upon issues, regarding the regulation of water use, environmental costs, water usage permit system and fees, and also,  the introduction of the river basin management system and prioritizing the water use.


During the meeting, Mrs Tandilashvili spoke about the need to fulfil obligations under the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and underlined the importance of the engagement of the private sector in the drafting of the law for the creation of effective regulations.
