George Khanishvili attended the conference "Vocational Education in the Agricultural Sector".

Mr. George Khanishvili, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture attended the conference "Vocational Education in the Agricultural Sector".


 In his speech, Mr. Khanishvili underlined the importance of sharing qualified knowledge and acquisition /application of new technology skills for learning agricultural professions, he thanked teachers participating in the conference for their contribution and services.


‘’Despite the significant progress made in the agricultural field, the agrarian sector still suffers from a shortage of personnel. It is our duty, we as the government, and you, as teachers, to raise public awareness and promote agricultural professions with coordinated cooperation," said Mr. George Khanishvili. 


 The conference was organized by the Professional Skills Agency as part of Vocational Skills Week. 
The conversation touched upon the importance of renewal/modernization of agricultural extension, also the possibilities of promoting higher and vocational education in the agricultural area.

Mr.Khanishvili emphasized the importance of the support of donor organizations in increasing the level of vocational education and thanked the United Nations Development Program and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for their cooperation and contribution to the development of the agricultural sector in Georgia. 

Mr. Valerian Gobronidze, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, heads of relevant departments of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, representatives of vocational schools, teachers and interested parties attended the meeting.
