The draft document "Road Map for Sustainable Development of Laboratory Infrastructure in Georgia" to discuss at the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture

The representatives of the Bern University of Applied Sciences submitted the draft document "Roadmap for Sustainable Development of Laboratory Infrastructure of Georgia" to the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.

 

The respective document was developed within the framework of the Global Quality and Standards Program in Georgia (GQSP-Georgia) and is meant to serve as a guide for stakeholders to coordinate current and future activities of the laboratory, develop/strengthen laboratories’ technical and human resources capacities.

"Roadmap for Sustainable Development of Laboratory Infrastructure" was developed to strengthen laboratories in the country. The challenges faced by laboratories in Georgia were identified in the drafting process. The main goal of the project is to promote the introduction of high standards in the phytosanitary, veterinary and food safety fields, which will increase the competitiveness of Georgian products in the European Union market," Mr. Pavliashvili declared.

The respective project is implemented with the financial support of the Switzerland- State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and technical support from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

The Member of the Parliament of Georgia Mrs. Khatia Tsilosani, representatives of Bern University of Applied Sciences, Dr. Dominic Blättler and Pia Clara Fehler, invited experts of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Mrs. Nino Manvelidze and Mrs. Ekaterine Burkadze, and representatives of relevant agencies within the Ministry system attended the meeting.
