Otar Shamugia meets representatives of apple processing companies.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia met with the representatives of apple processing and juice concentrate manufacturer companies.
The current situation faced by the sector, as well as harvesting season-related challenges, have been discussed during the meeting.

According to the Minister, active communication with the entrepreneurs and with all links of the sector is crucial to identify needs accurately, also to analyze and evaluate current processes correctly and make the right decision.

The apples are expected to be abundant this year, amounting to approximately 130-135 thousand tonnes; however, bad weather and increased rainfall had a significant impact on the quality of apples. In the current season, processing enterprises plan to deliver about 50 thousand tonnes of apples for the production of apple juice concentrate.

Companies will start receiving apples at the beginning of September.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to make the best decision to ensure the smooth harvesting-storing-selling of apples.
