LTD " Avalianebi Brothers Cellar " uses renewable energy sources for producing agricultural products

The wine cellar LTD "Dzmebi Avalianebi Marani" started using renewable energy sources for producing agricultural products, through the support of the Rural Development Program.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Mr. Otar Shamugia and the Minister of Agriculture of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Mr. Zaza Shavadze paid a visit to the wine cellar "Avaliani Brothers Winery" in the village of Gogiashvili, Keda Municipality.


The aforementioned wine cellar got benefits from the Rural Development Program",  receiving co-financing of GEL 30,000 for purchasing 51 solar panels. The micro-solar power station supplies a small family cellar with generated electricity (25 kV).

 

It should be mentioned, that the family cellar has received a preferential agro-credit worth GEL 1,300,000 to build a cellar; 5 locals are employed in the cellar, which sells products in the local market.

 

"it is crucial not only to stimulate agricultural activities to increase employment of our rural population and improve their economic conditions but also to support the development of non-agricultural activities. For this purpose, with the support of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program, we are jointly implementing the "Rural Development Program. One of the top priority directions of this program is to promote the introduction of renewable energy sources. Effective use of energy obtained from these sources reduces both costs and negative impact on the environment, and that is a definite priority", said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The Mayor of Kedi municipality, Mr. Ronald Beridze, and Member of the Parliament of Georgia, Mr. Anzor Bolkvadze, the Majoritarian MP in the Municipalities of Kedi, Shuakhevi and Khulo accompanied the Minister at the wine cellar.

The "Rural Development Program" is implemented in the municipalities of Keda, Khulo, Borjomi, Akhalkalaki, Tetritskaro, Kazbegi, Lagodekhi and Dedoplistskaro. The program aims to promote the development of non-agricultural entrepreneurial activities in rural areas, overcome challenges related to climate change and efficiently use natural resources.

 

76 projects have been financed under the "Rural Development Program". The total value of the investment exceeds Gel 10 million; Co-financing exceeds GEL 7 million. 7 projects are financed under the program, the total investment exceeds GEL1 million, and co-financing is more than GEL 600 thousand in the Municipality of Keda.

The Rural Development program is implemented by the Rural Development Agency (RDA) with the support of the European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) within the framework of the European Neighborhood Program for Rural and Agricultural Development (ENPARD).
