Otar Shamugia makes a statement on the price of bread

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia answered the questions posed by the media representatives, at the end of the session of the Government.
The Minister made a remark regarding the price of bread, according to him, the state aims to promote local production and increase the rate of self-sufficiency.

"During our visit to the US, we held meetings with our counterparts. In the first stage, we will start studying the value chain with the help of our American colleagues, which will be followed by the identification of the needs where support is required. Subsequently, we will make decisions about support measures, which will be based on the results of the studies" said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

The Minister also mentioned that the trend is downward in wheat and flour prices. In August, approximately 25,000 tonnes of wheat entered the country. The export tax has been decreased which will enable the grain mills to start working in the usual manner.
Ultimately, maintaining the downward trend in prices will further decrease the price of bread across the country.
