Levan Davitashvili got acquainted with the wheat harvesting process in Dedoplistskaro Municipality
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Levan Davitashvili got acquainted with the wheat harvesting process in Dedoplistskaro municipality and met with local farmers. Wheat harvest is underway in Kakheti region. According to the preliminary data, 230 thousand tons of wheat is expected on 67 thousand hectares, while barley harvested area is assumed to be 19 thousand hectares at a yield of 58 thousand tons.
The farming machinery - 120 combine harvesters of the state-owned firm Mekanizatori Ltd is involved in the harvesting process, out of which 49 are allocated in Dedoplistskaro service center and 54 in Gurjaani service center. The Belarusian agricultural machinery (30 new combine harvesters) which were purchased by "Mekanizatori" LTD in 2018 are also engaged in the harvesting process.
"Despite bad weather conditions harvest is plenteous in Dedoplistskaro Municipality. All relevant services are actively working to deal successfully with the ongoing harvesting process. Furthermore, two new sub components were added to the components of the preferential agro-credit: the preferential agro-credit and preferential agro leasing for agricultural machinery. It’s very important, that more and more farmers are willing to purchase agricultural equipment, accordingly, provision and use of farming equipment will significantly improve the development of the grain industry in the next few years" said Levan Davitashvili.
According to current data, wheat crop cultivated on 11 thousand hectares in Kakheti region is already taken by LTD "Mekanizatori ‘’. Governor of Kakheti region, Irakli Kadagishvili, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Georgia Mikhail Miatlikov, Deputy Chairman of the Agrarian Issues Committee, Irakli Shiolashvili and Director General of "Mekanizatori" Ltd, Paata Shekeladze attended the event.
