Georgian companies showcased their products at the international exhibition RIGA FOOD 2022
At the international exhibition RIGA FOOD 2022 in the city of Riga, Latvia, 20 Georgian companies showcased their products through the joint support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Rural Development Agency.Â
Mr. George Khanishvili, the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mrs. Tea Maisuradze, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Latvia, and Mr. Ilia Tamarashvili, the Director of the Rural Development Agency attended the opening of the exhibition.
"The Government of Georgia and the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture continue supporting farmers. Today's exhibition proved once again that Georgian enterprises are ready to meet the requirements of the EU market.
''I believe that the support of the Government of Georgia and the projects of the Rural Development Agency gives farmers an incentive to produce more high-quality products that adhere to European standards. 2022 statistics show, that we have a steady growth in the EU market, which is resulted from the participation in similar events," said Mr. George Khanishvili.
The Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Latvia, Mrs. Tea Maisuradze emphasized the importance of promoting Georgian products in the European market and noted that Latvia's interest in Georgian products is increasing.
20 Georgian companies presented: walnuts, hazelnuts, wine, berry crops, dried fruit, tea, natural juices, tkemali, spices, honey and various alcoholic beverages at the RIGA FOOD 2022 exhibition.
According to the representatives of the companies, the state support to Georgian manufacturers to participate in the exhibitions contributes to the growth of the export of Georgian products on the international market and the diversification of export markets.
RIGA FOOD is one of the largest international exhibitions in the Baltic States, embracing more than 20,000 visitors annually. This year, 30 countries and about 420 local and international companies operating in the beekeeping sector took part in the exhibition.Â
