Within the framework of the Ministerial meeting, Otar Shamugia met with the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Janusz Wojciechowski

The Ministers of the EU member states, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and high-ranking officials of the EU structures participated in the Ministerial meeting in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague.


As part of the Ministerial, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Mr. Otar Shamugia held a meeting with the European Commissioner for Agriculture Mr. Janusz Wojciechovski. 
Mr. Shamugia expressed his gratitude to the European Commissioner for the support of the EU towards agricultural development in the country.

 

The Minister emphasised the importance of implementing the Association Agreement and the recommendations issued by the European Commission, who mentioned that respective issues are the main priorities of the country. 

During the meeting with the EU Commissioner., the Minister stressed the importance of Food security in Georgia and highlighted market diversification-related issues.

Mr.  Wojciechovski affirmed his full support for the European perspective of Georgia and expressed his desire for active cooperation.
European Commissioner emphasized the progress made by Georgia in fulfilling obligations taken under the Association Agenda, he spoke about the approval of the document introducing the food strategy and drew his attention to the successful implementation of the agricultural and rural development strategy.


As stated by Mr. Wojciechovski, Georgia will be granted EU candidate status, as soon as certain obligations are fulfilled,  which will result in benefits such as economic growth and security.
