Georgia joins the ‘’ Clean Up the World ‘’ campaign

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili Head of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Mr. Erik Illes, and Chairman of the non-governmental organization "Georgian Green Movement/Friends of the Earth - Georgia", Mrs. Nino Chhobadze, together with 50 employees of "Tbilservice Group" LLC took part in the cleaning activities in the vicinity of the Tbilisi Sea.


The " Clean up the World’’ campaign is organized in 63 municipalities of Georgia and will be run for three days to raise public awareness and engage more people in the cleaning process.


‘’The respective campaign should not be run as a single action or a promotional event, but should become a daily lifestyle; The waste management should be implemented in our country in the same manner as in modern European countries", said the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Solomon Pavliashvili.


"Sweden has been supporting the cleanup initiative in Georgia over the years, which is crucial for environmental protection. Sweden's experience has shown us, that it is necessary to stop pollution, moreover, we, all of us should take responsibility and get involved in these activities", said the head of the Swedish Development Agency, Mr. Erik Illes.

 

.It should be mentioned, that ''Supporting local environmental action to make a world of difference" is the motto of the " Clean up the World’’ campaign in 2022.


The aforementioned campaign event is implemented by non-governmental organizations "Georgian Green Movement/Friends of the Earth - Georgia", "Keep Georgia Tidy" (KGT), Georgian Society of Nature Explorers “Orchis’’, with the financial support of the Government of Sweden in cooperation with the Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and the Solid Waste Management Company.
