Otar Shamugia held a virtual meeting with the representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD)

 The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Mr. Otar Shamugia  held a virtual meeting with the representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD).

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed the activities planned within the framework of the project ’’ Rehabilitation and Modernization of Zemo Samgori Irrigation System’’. The respective project will last for six years and the overall budget amounts to Euro 90 million.
The Minister underlined the importance of the support provided by donor organizations and stated that, the improvement of infrastructure is a priority direction for the state, as it plays a crucial role in the agricultural development of the country. 

Mr.  Shamugia expressed his gratitude to the representatives of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency for supporting the implementation of the project, He also underlined the importance of the efficient operation of the irrigation systems to improve farming practices and increase production in the light of climate change.

 

As mentioned at the meeting, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the French Development Agency (AFD) support the development of the irrigation infrastructure in Georgia and are ready to build a long-term and effective cooperation with the Georgian side.
