George Khanishvili participates in the conference on "Georgian Tea"

The First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. George Khanishvili attended the conference on "Georgian Tea" in the village of Anaseuli, Ozurgeti Municipality. The event was hosted by the Institute of Tea, Subtropical Crops, and Tea Industry of the Agrarian University of Georgia.

The opportunity to produce high-quality tea products, tea potential, and the possibilities of sustainable development of the tea sector in Georgia have been discussed by parties who also brought forward challenges, possible solutions, the current state, and the prospects for the development of the tea industry.

 

"The state has been implementing ‘’Georgian Tea Plantation Rehabilitation Program" since 2016, aiming to effectively use the potential of tea plantations in Georgia and promote the growth of local tea production. Moreover, new support mechanisms with the main focus on the production of high-quality and premium tea in the local and international markets are planned to be introduced in the country to promote the development of the tea sector" - stated the First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. George Khanishvili.

 

The conference was organized by the joint stock company "Georgian Tea" and was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of its establishment.

 

The representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the private sector, and members of the Georgian Organic Tea Producers Association attended the conference.
