Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Otar Shamugia attended the wine festival in the town of Gurjaani

"It is a great honor to participate in this beautiful event. It is already the 2nd week, that "Wine Days", as very beautiful events are being held upon the initiative of the Prime Minister in 26 cities across the country, today it is celebrated in the town of Gurjaani.

 

'' We aim to support the sector and our support will be further continued and strengthened. Today we can say that the whole world recognizes the 8000-year history of viticulture and winemaking in Georgia and admits, that Georgia is the homeland of wine and wine is a business card for our country. For years, we have been jointly implementing an active policy with you, winegrowers, winemakers, and our partners to promote Georgian wine on the world market.

 

In consequence, today our wine producers and exporters export wine to 70 countries, and this geography and the rate of export are increasing. All of the aforementioned is the result of this campaign, and consistent measures which are jointly taken" - said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

 

More than 200 small entrepreneurs, wineries, and cellars took part in the festival held within the framework of the Gurjaani Wine Days, which presented different types of wine, chacha, and other alcoholic beverages.

 

Gurjaani Wine Festival was held within the Wine Days initiated by the Prime Minister and its official partner "International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC).

 

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, the National Wine Agency, and the National Tourism Administration, as well as representatives of the private sector.
