Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia met with the Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Georgia Thomas Muehlmann

Mr. Shamugia expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for long-standing and effective cooperation with the Georgian side and stressed the importance of the special contribution of the Austrian Government in the forestry sector reforming process.

"The implementation of the Forest Sector Reform in Georgia is one of the priority areas of the Ministry with the overall goal to strengthen the capabilities of the National Forestry Agency.

 

 I am pleased to inform you that we have just completed the national forest inventory process, and I believe, that with the effective implementation of the forestry sector reform, we will be able to get closer to the EU," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.

Mr.  Miulman underlined the importance of friendly and close partnership relations between the two countries and expressed his desire to further deepen cooperation with Georgia in the environmental protection and agricultural field, noting that the latter is a reliable partner country to Austria.

 

The Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Mrs. Nino Tandilashvili and representatives of the relevant Departments attended the meeting.Â
