Otar Shamugia: "Dear farmers, through your tireless efforts you have achieved great results, which are reflected in specific numbers."

'' We celebrate Farmer's Day on November 20. Dear farmers, firstly,  I would like to congratulate you on this day and then I congratulate all persons who make contributions to the agricultural development across the country"- stated the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Mr. Otar Shamugia, at the ‘’Farmer's Day ‘’event, which was organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and Georgian Farmers' Association.

"We have started celebrating ‘’Farmer's Day’’ since 2015. The Georgian Farmers' Association is our strong supporter, which organizes important events in the country. Since the morning of November 20, an exhibition and trade fair of products produced by our entrepreneurs and farmers has been held at Expo Georgia. The award ceremony will be held in the evening to reveal our successful farmers who won several nominations.
I think, that this is an expression of gratitude to show our appreciation for their work, which is very important for each of us, for our country," Mr. Otar Shamugia said.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture highlighted agricultural programs implemented by the state to support farmers.

"For the last few years, we have had a significant and steady growth in the primary and processing production, we have an increase in export figures as well. This year, we will continue our efforts and we will achieve better results. Definitely, all the aforementioned are outcomes of our joint efforts, although you are standing above all and your work is invaluable. With the help of our partners, we are implementing several important projects to make Georgian agricultural production more competitive, enabling farmers to produce more products, and contributing to agricultural development even more.

The world is facing many challenges, amid all the uncertainties, food security is the major global challenge facing by the countries today. I have attended several conferences recently, where together with our counterpart partner Ministers we discussed all the challenges existing today. However, the food supply is the most pressing issue and we should work together to produce more products, increase our self-sufficiency and strengthen our country," said Mr. Otar Shamugia.
